Football-Softball: Throw for Accuracy

Schedule: Friday, June 18, 2010 from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

Venue:      Valley High School (click for map)
                 3650 Woodland Avenue, West Des Moines

Divisions:
  5-Year Age Brackets (i.e. 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69…)

Event Regulations & Format:


Football
(Junior-size Football)

1. Participants must check in within one hour of the published starting time.

2. Each participant will attempt six throws from each of the following distances:

  • Men - 10 and 12 yards
  • Women - 7 and 11 yards


3. The target will be the opening in a 25 inch ring, the center of which will be 5 feet off the ground.

4. Ten points will be awarded for each throw from the 7 and 10 yard lines that goes through the target.

5. Twenty points will be awarded for each throw from the 11 and 12 yard lines that goes through the target.

6. The object of the event is to score the highest possible number of points.

7. One practice throw will be allowed at each distance.  The participant must announce beforehand if he/she is taking a practice throw or throwing for a score.

8. In case of a tie, the participant with most consecutive successful throws will be declared the winner.  If a tie still remains, duplicate medals will be awarded.

9. ISO reserves the right to change the event format for any age division based on entry numbers, space restrictions, or other circumstances.

Softball
(12 inch Softball)

  • Women - 8 and 12 yards


3. The target will be the opening in a 25-inch ring the center which will be 5 feet off the ground.

4. Ten points will be awarded for each throw from the 8 and 10 yard lines that goes through the target.

5. Twenty points will be awarded for each throw from the 12 and 15 yard lines that goes through the target.

6. The object of the event is to score the highest possible number of points.
