Softball Tournament

Schedule:  Friday, June 4, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.
                  Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. (time could go later)

Brackets: 2010 Team Brackets

Divisions:
  5-Year Age Brackets (i.e. 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69…)

Entry Regulations:

  1. Teams must be all one gender.
  2. Athletes may only play on one softball team.
  3. Age divisions for each team shall be determined by the age of the youngest player on the roster.
  4. Team rosters shall be limited as follows:
  • 50 – 64: A minimum of 9 players and a maximum of 15 players.
  • 65+: A minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 20 players.
  • This includes non-playing coaches, non-playing captains and non-playing bench personnel. A maximum of three out-of-state players are allowed. Roster changes shall be allowed only as permitted under National Rule F.

 

  1. All registration and team rules apply to non-playing coaches, non-playing captains and non-playing bench personnel.
  2. Teams must provide their own bats, gloves, and practice balls.

Format:

  1. Teams will play 3 games in a round robin format.
  2. ISO reserves the right to change the tournament format for any age division based on entry numbers, space restrictions, or other circumstances.
     

Sport Rules:

  1. Bats approved by the SPA and SSUSA (including the Ultra II) will be allowed if managers of both teams agree to their use before the game begins. No bats may have more than 1.21 bpf and no titanium bats will be allowed.
  2. Batters will begin with a 1 and 1 count, with one courtesy foul on the third strike.Each player may serve as a substitute runner no more than once per inning.
  3. Each player may serve as a substitute runner no more than once per inning.
  4. Teams may bat as many players as they wish, but once in the batting rotation, a player may not be removed without recording an out if no one is substituted for them in the batting line-up.
  5. Number of defensive players: (50 – 69   Ten players) (70+   Eleven players) 
  6. Over-running the bases will be allowed at second and third bases for 70+ teams. No overrunning of bases will be allowed for 50 – 69 teams.
  7. A maximum of 5 runs may be scored in each inning except for the 7th inning, which is unlimited.
  8. If the visiting team is ahead by 8 runs or more after 6 innings, the home team will bat first in the seventh inning
  9. Medal winners will be determined by the won/loss record in games played only within the same age group. In the event of a tie in the won/loss record in the same age group, medal winners will be determined by the following factors applied in the following order:
    - Fewest runs allowed in all games in the same age group and 2) Largest run margin in all games in the same age group. Note: If two Iowa-based teams have the same won/loss record, the head-to-head game result will be the deciding factor.
